UA Paid Basic Life Insurance
The University of Alaska provides and pays for a $100,000 Basic Life Insurance for each benefit-eligible employee. Employees only pay the imputed tax on this benefit.
- Regular full-time and regular part-time employees eligible on the date of hire

The beneficiary for employee coverage must be designated by the employee through the Beneficiary Form.
You may change your beneficiary at any time by completing a new form.
For example, if you are 42 years old, the yearly value of $100,000 life insurance benefit is $60. This means the following:
- $60 will be added to your gross income
- You will pay taxes on that $60
It's important to note that the annual benefit in the table below is not the amount you pay, it is the amount added to your income. This is the amount subject to taxes.
