Voluntary benefits through Corestream

The University of Alaska offers additional voluntary benefits that support employee and family well-being. UA has partnered with Corestream to provide additional benefits to support employees in all areas of their personal and professional life. Below is a high level overview of each of the benefits provided by Corestream to UA employees.

Accident Insurance via the Hartford
Accident coverage, offered through The Hartford, provides benefits for employees and their covered family members for expenses related to off-the-job accidents. While health insurance covers medical costs, this plan offers added financial protection by helping with deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, and even everyday costs like mortgage or car payments. This provides extra financial protection should a medical accident occur to help employees focus on what matters most: getting better.

Critical Illness Insurance via the Hartford
Critical illness coverage through The Hartford provides a lump-sum benefit of $15,000 or $30,000 if a covered individual is diagnosed with a qualifying condition. The benefit can be used for expenses not covered by the medical plan like lost income, childcare, travel or everyday household expenses, and includes a $50 wellness incentive for claims following a qualified wellness exam.

Hospital Indemnity Insurance via the Hartford
Hospital indemnity coverage through The Hartford pays cash benefits directly to a covered member if they have a covered stay in a hospital or intensive care unit. Covered members can use the benefits from this policy to help pay for medical expenses such as deductibles and copays, travel cost, food and lodging, or everyday expenses such as groceries and utilities.

Identity Theft Protection via Allstate
Allstate Identity Theft provides identity theft coverage. Identity theft is a growing risk, with a new victim every two seconds. Allstate ID monitors millions of transactions and alerts members to suspicious activity by text, phone, or email. This coverage goes beyond basic credit card monitoring to provide proactive protection.

Prepaid Legal via Legal Shield
Legal Shield gives employees and their families affordable access to experienced attorneys for a wide range of personal legal needs. Through the plan, participants are connected directly with a dedicated provider law firm that can review and prepare legal documents and assist with matters such as traffic tickets, neighbor disputes, and family-related issues, including adoption.

ASPCA Pet Insurance
ASPCA Pet Insurance offers employees a special discounted rate. You can visit any vet specialist, or emergency clinic and then submit a claim. You’ll be reimbursed for eligible vet bills by direct deposit or check. Please note that ASPCA Pet Insurance is purchased directly on their website and is not a payroll deduction. To enroll in the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance, enroll directly with the ASPCA at www.aspcapetinsurnace.com/universityofalaska and priority code EBUniversityofAlaska.
