Alaska 529 Plan

UA provides employees a way to save for future college expenses in a tax-advantaged way. ‚Äč

The Alaska 529 Plan is a versatile education savings account that can be used for qualified expenses at nearly all colleges, universities and technical schools nationwide, as well as for K-12 tuition.

  • The plan helps thousands of Alaskans save for future education expenses; many of whom enroll at UA. 

  • All UA employees can open and contribute to Alaska 529 accounts using payroll deduction. 

  • UA employees will continue to have the added benefit of the Alaska 529 team located at the University of Alaska in the Butrovich Building on the Fairbanks campus and in the Bragaw Building in Anchorage. 

  • Employees can walk-in, call, Zoom, or schedule a speaker for a department staff meeting.

Make Changes to Exisiting Payroll Deductions: 
  1. Complete the Alaska 529 Payroll Deduction Request Form and submit it to the Alaska 529 Plan.

Enroll in the Alaska 529 Plan:
  1. Open an account online.

  2. In the Fund Account section, under Contribution Options, select Recurring, then Employer Payroll Deduction.

  3. Complete the Alaska 529 Payroll Deduction Request Form and submit it to the Alaska 529.
