One gift is all it takes to make a difference in the life of a University of Alaska student.

Your support provides UA with the means to do more – offer more scholarships, conduct more research, create new works of art, and take advantage of academic opportunities that might otherwise be missed.

If you have any questions about your gift, or wish to contact someone directly, please email us at ua-foundationfundgift@alaska.edu

Are you having challenges with your credit card donation? Contact us at ua-foundationfundgift@alaska.edu.

We now accept cryptocurrency donations!

You can direct your gift through cryptoforcharity.io which will allow you to make a tax-deductible gift of cryptocurrency.

Your donation of cryptocurrency is facilitated through our partner, FreeWill Impact Fund, a 501(c)3 that specializes in receiving gifts of cryptocurrency. Your charitable gift receipt will come from FreeWill Impact Fund.

Once your gift of cryptocurrency is received, it will be converted to U.S. dollars and sent to the University of Alaska Foundation. A portion (3.95%) of your donation (about the same as a credit card fee) is donated to FreeWill Impact Fund for facilitating your gift on our behalf.

Many of our donors have worked with their families or advisors to create a donor-advised fund (DAF). It is like an investment account that is set up for the sole purpose of supporting charities. Individuals can contribute cash, stocks, or other assets to the DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction. Those funds are invested for tax-free growth and the individual can recommend donations to charities of their choice over time.

And you can contact our Fund and Gift ServicesTeam to direct that gift to the program or area of the University of Alaska that means the most to you.

Gifts in kind include donations of property other than cash and real estate.  It includes donations such as works of art, books, equipment, furnishings, automobiles, software and licensing. A gift in kind requires an official transfer of ownership of property from the donor to the university.

If you have an item that you think may be of interest or use to one of our universities, please contact Harry Need, Senior Director of Philanthropic Services, at 907-450-8030.  We can help you discuss the process, next steps and connect you with the appropriate university department.

Honorary and memorial gifts can help commemorate a significant event or person. You can make a gift in honor/memory to any established account online, using the comments box to specify, or by contacting us at 907-450-8030.

"In Lieu of Flowers" -  Donors may choose to have gifts directed to UA in memory of a loved one “in lieu of flowers.” Here is some sample language to encourage giving in memory of a loved one:

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of [NAME] to the University of Alaska [Anchorage/Fairbanks/Southeast]. Contributions may be made online at engage.alaska.edu; please note ‘In Memory of [NAME]'.

If you are interested in speaking to someone about honor or memorial giving, please contact Tlisa Northcutt, Chief Donor Relations Officer, at 907-786-1211.

Many of our donors find that gifts of personal property, investments, or real estate work well for their personal goals while also creating meaningful impact through the university.

A taxwise method of giving for donors over 70.5 with IRAs is the charitable rollover; A.K.A. the qualified charitable distribution. And we offer this free tool to facilitate gifts from IRAs.

If you would like information on other types of gifts, please contact Harry Need, Senior Director of Philanthropic Services, at 907-786-4840.

The UA Foundation Student Engagement Ambassador Program employs students to reach out to alumni and friends of the University of Alaska Anchorage, Fairbanks and Southeast. The goal of the program is to provide alumni and friends the opportunity to connect with current students and to support the areas of the university that they care about most.

This program generates annual philanthropic support that strengthens academic programs, scholarships and facilities across the state.  But the impact goes well beyond dollars raised.  Each student shares their personal university experience as well as news and updates about the university campuses while updating records, addresses and alumni information.
