NACTEC provides high school students in Bering Strait School District and Nome Public Schools with the necessary resources and skills for employment opportunities, the pursuit of postsecondary education, and independent living skills through instruction in four focus areas: career and technical skills, career exploration, life skills, and work readiness skills.

Iḷisaġvik College https://www.

College serving primarily North Slope residents. The Inupiaq way of life is woven into their curriculum, programs and activities.  They offer summer camps and summer courses as well as fall and winter. 

Post-secondary academic, vocational, and technical education with aim of strengthening Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions. “Unapologetically Iñupiaq”—all are welcome, but learning is structured to promote Iñupiaq values, worldview, knowledge, and culture.

UAF—Center for Cross Cultural Studies The Center for Cross Cultural Studies at the University of Alaska Fairbanks aims to improve the education and professional development opportunities for Indigenous peoples. They offer an Indigenous Studies PhD as well as a Masters of Arts.
Kawerak - GED & SEL Programs
Kawerak’s Community Education Program (CEP) known as Nome Regional Adult Education Program provides free basic educational opportunities in Adult Education (AE), General Educational Development (GED), and English as a Second Language (ESL). Program services include remediation in reading, writing, and math skills
UAF—Chukchi College
2-year public institution; branch of University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). Located in Kotzebue, in the Northwest Arctic Borough. Combination of in-person and distance classes; offers associates of arts and associates of applied science degrees.

Part of the College of Rural and Community Development. Study for Associates and Bachelor’s degrees is available via distance learning for students in the Bering Straits Region.
UAF—Cooperative Extension, Nome
Serves Nome, Kotzebue, 15 villages in the Bering Straits Region, and 11 villages in the Northwest Arctic Borough.

This 6 week, all inclusive and paid for, program sends students to UAF in Fairbanks to have an unforgettable crash course in college success.  
Galena Interior Learning Academy          Drone Aviation Course https://www.galena
Students in the unmanned aerial vehicle classes earn the remote pilot certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. The certification allows graduates to work commercially and professionally using unmanned aerial vehicles. This is a residential boarding school program located in Galena. 
Girls on Ice  https://www.inspiring
Tuition-free multi-day expeditions for high school girls that interweave science, art, and backcountry travel. Our expeditions are led by professional women scientists, artists, and wilderness guides. Foster young women’s self-confidence in their physical, intellectual, and leadership abilities while creating lifelong advocates for Earth science and wilderness stewardship.

  Financial Assistance  
Kawerak - Vocational Training Assistance
The Vocational Training Program provides financial assistance to eligible applicants interested in attaining a certificate or degree from a vocational training or trade school program. Financial assistance is intended to enhance the applicant’s job skills and gain full-time employment.
Kawerak - Project Remote
Support to make online learning more possible in the BSS region. Covers high school students wishing to take dual enrollment courses, or students looking to pursue higher education or short term training. Can pay for internet while enrolled and set up fees. Can provide computers if needed. Check out the information to get more details. Supported by ANEP. 
NSEDC - Education Programs Scholarship https://www.nsedc.
Offering scholarships for any student enrolled in a full time accredited college, university or vocational school. Focus on teachers, airplane pilots and mechanics and commercial drivers
Kawarak - Youth Employment Services
Youth Employment Services provide opportunities for part-time summer employment to youth between the ages of 14-24, during the months of June, July & August. Youth Employment Services are designed to provide valuable employment skills and experience while earning a wage.
Alaska Job Center Network This website provides links to a variety of employment options and employment networks including job fairs. The Alaska Job Network allows you to look for available jobs using a search tool. You will need to create an account for Alaska Jobs Network. Many of the other resources on the site do not require a log in.
