Hite McGee resigns as chief human resources officer

Keli Hite McGee recently announced her resignation from her position as the University of Alaska’s Chief Human Resources Officer. Her last day with the university will be October 4th. 

Hite McGee, who has been with UA since June 2016, will be returning to healthcare with a practice in Fairbanks.

“My number one priority before I leave is to finish implementation of the HR Redesign by the scheduled “go-live” date of September 16. I am recruiting for a new chief human resources officer that will lead the effort,” said Hite McGee. “The university has been an amazing place to work and I am lucky to work with all of you.”

Hite McGee has more than 20 years of professional experience in communication, human resources, change management and leadership consulting, training and coaching in various industries including healthcare, higher education, private, state and federal organizations. For many years she shared the lessons she learned with other professionals in her Sunday business column in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. 

Her career in organizational development, executive coaching and change management started in 2000 as Golden Valley Electric Association’s organizational development officer for the CEO providing change management facilitation. In 2002, she started Hites Consulting where she helped many leaders and organizations manage and implement change by facilitating strategic planning, group mediation, executive coaching and trainings on multiple leadership topics. 

From 2012 to 2016 Hite McGee was the CEO of Alaska Heart & Vascular Institute LLC (AHVI) in Anchorage, MatSu, and Soldotna. Prior to her time with AHVI, while owner of Hites Consulting, she worked as interim administrator for Anchorage Women’s Clinic (AWC) for nine months. McGee provided strategic planning facilitation for many different industries and companies including healthcare, mining, engineering, non-profits, native corporations, borough, state and university.

McGee is a University of Alaska Fairbanks alumna earning a master’s in professional communication in 2000 and a bachelor’s in English in 1990. She is an Army brat, a graduate of Delta High School and has lived across Alaska for more than 25 years including Nome, Barrow, Delta, Anchorage and Fairbanks. Hite McGee is married to Sean McGee, and has three children - John, Sean and Megan.
