For site administrators

Mentoring can provide much-needed support with culturally responsive teaching and community integration. ASMP aims to work with and supplement guidance from site administrators. Many principals have found this helpful — especially given administrators’ busy schedules — and requested mentoring for other teachers at their sites.

Process

ASMP initiates contact with districts to establish partnership and potential cost-sharing, after which teacher mentees are identified. ASMP will then contact site administrators to establish a connection. We will also notify relevant site administrators early in the school year about FERPA-compliant video recording of select consenting teachers as part of our research whose grant funds the program. ASMP will coordinate visits with site administrators.

Mentor in-person site visits

ASMP mentors will visit teachers two to six times a year. The number varies due to current research expectations.

Prior to visiting, the mentor will contact the site administrator to confirm the visit dates, transportation, and housing. The mentor may also provide a tentative visit schedule that they have established with the on-site teacher(s).

Feedback

Site administrators are asked every spring to provide program quality feedback to ASMP through a 10- to 15-minute survey. This helps us strengthen our program and adapt to evolving needs of our schools and teachers.
