Stacey Lucason

Term: 2015-2017
Stacey Lucason is the student member of the University of Alaska Board of Regents, and was appointed by Governor Walker in July 2015 to serve a two-year term.
As a student at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), Regent Lucason is interested in social structures, disparity in access, and ways to improve the lives of those in her community. She is studying philosophy, public administration, has taken the prerequisites in biology and chemistry in order to apply for medical school and is an active member of the UAA Seawolf Debate program.
While on the Board of Regents, she thoughtfully considers others perspectives before speaking to an issue. Regent Lucason hopes to create an environment where better pathways to access higher education in Alaska are extended to all Alaskans seeking knowledge, and those from Outside are invited to join students in learning at the University of Alaska. She is focused on maintaining high quality educational experiences, and ensuring that even in the face of budget challenges, Alaskans are able to grow their own potential without leaving home.
Regent Lucason is of Yup’ik and Scandinavian descent, and has made Anchorage her home. Outside of school, her favorite place to be is partway up a south-facing hillside, mountain biking, picking berries, or just walking the dogs.
