ALI Student Cohort

The ALI Student Cohort is a year-long program for University of Alaska undergraduate and graduate students, in any discipline, who want to lead in the Arctic. Each cohort member joins an interdisciplinary Arctic Challenge Project team with Early Career Faculty Fellows and President's Arctic Professors, working on a question a partner organization has asked.

  • Fall leadership retreat in Fairbanks and spring retreat in Anchorage at Arctic Encounter, where teams present their work (travel covered)
  • The course Arctic Leadership: Theory and Praxis (PS/ACNS F416/F616), with a UA Foundation scholarship covering the cost of the course
  • A $1,000 stipend on completing the program

Applying for 2027-28: the call opens in January, and applications are due Monday, March 15, 2027. See Opportunities and Deadlines, or email ua-ali-info@alaska.edu.
