President’s Recognition Events

University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen, in partnership with each of the three main campuses, hosts receptions each fall to celebrate the incoming class of UA Scholars. Faculty, staff and students from each campus are present at all events to share information about opportunities for UA Scholars at the University of Alaska.

Check in and registration opens 30 minutes prior to each event.

*The President will not be in attendance at the Kodiak College reception.

What happens at the Reception? The recognition event is a formal program featuring UA President Jim Johnsen, the campus Chancellor, and a current UA Scholar. Each share remarks about opportunities for UA Scholars at UA. During the program, UA Scholars in attendance are individually recognized, and take a photo with the President and Chancellor. The formal program is immediately followed by a reception with faculty, staff, and current students. 
Who can attend? Designated UA Scholars, their families, school representatives, and friends are invited to attend. 
Dress for photos! There will be a photobooth for Scholars and their families as well as individual portraits with the President and Chancellor.
