The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) School of Education has received the Frank Murray Leadership Recognition for Continuous Improvement. UAS is the first institution in Alaska to receive this distinction, and is among a small group of providers nationwide to be recognized in this way.

Kaydee Van Flein to serve as UAF's interim associate vice chancellor for student affairs

The University of Alaska Fairbanks announced on September 11 that Kaydee Van Flein will assume the role of interim associate vice chancellor for student affairs while Ali Knabe serves as interim chief of staff to Interim Chancellor Mike Sfraga.

UA Board of Regents approves resolution of appreciation for UAF Chancellor Dan White

At the September 5 full board meeting in Juneau, the University of Alaska Board of Regents approved a resolution of appreciation for former UAF Chancellor Dan White. White retired from his role as Chancellor in July.

In January of 2025, UAA Chancellor Sean Parnell announced his intent to retire at the end of the spring 2025 semester. UA President Pat Pitney has named an interim chancellor to lead UAA upon Chancellor Parnell's retirement, and convened a search committee to guide the search for UAA's next permanent Chancellor.
