Family Medical Leave Support at UA

Over the past three years we have received feedback from employees across the system that our Family Medical Leave outsourcing vendor, Unum, was not living up to the level of service our employees need.

We have heard you loud and clear.  We are pleased to announce that we will be bringing the management and support of Family Medical Leave back in-house to our HR team.  Our new online portal tool is supported by the leading industry vendor, AbsenceSoft.

Key benefits of this new tool include: 

  • Request a leave of absence online 24/7 
  • Understand leave options and eligibility 
  • Communicate directly with your UA HR benefits team case manager  
  • Upload certification and return-to-work forms 
  • Enter intermittent time off requests (ITORs) 

Starting today, all University of Alaska employees can access the AbsenceSoft tool by going to:   https://alaska-ss.ess-absencetracker.com/

This site is accessible via UA single sign-on.
