Elise Davis

After receiving a Bachelor degree in philosophy from UCSB in California, I pursued a teaching certificate through Pacific Oaks College in Seattle, WA, a school that focuses on meeting the needs of students in urban and multicultural settings. I was really impressed with the depth of discussion and chose to pursue a Masters degree in Human Development with a focus on Bilingual Education.

Soon after, I moved up to Anchorage and taught at one of the high schools for a year while I completed my endorsement in Special Education before moving out to the Bering Strait School District where I was able to work with students K-12 in various content areas.

In 2004 I completed a program in Educational Leadership from the University of Alaska, Anchorage and accepted a role as principal where I was able to work with a great team of people on developing a strong culture of learning and on exploring various ways to build natural supports into the school building.

My personal interests include discussing and reading about educational philosophy, American Sign Language, dropout prevention, traveling, and dance.
