Risk Services welcomes new claims assistant Jennifer Medders

Jennifer Medders has joined the System Office of Risk Services in Anchorage as the Claims Assistant. Medders provides administrative support to the Claims Unit and is the contact for claim reporting.� She is a general claims information resource for the University customers with a focus on document management and customer service.�

While new to claims, Medders is not a new face at the University. She worked with students in Enrollment Services at the University of Alaska Anchorage campus for over 5 years, so she is very knowledgeable about the University system and how it works. She also comes to the department with over 10 years of customer service experience in a professional office setting.

Amy Brown joins the UA Foundation as the new Anchorage Gift Manager

The UA Foundation’s Anchorage office welcomes Amy Brown, BA ‘10 (UAF), as the new Gift Manager. She received her UAF Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minored in Natural Resource Management.�While a student at UAF, she served as a student ambassador and participated in student lobbying on behalf of UA.

Amy Brown was previously a Direct Services Advocate for the Abused Women’s Aid in Crisis (AWAIC). She was also the Membership & Communications Coordinator for Alaska Marine Conversation Council (AMCC) for three years prior to her time at AWAIC and has worked for other nonprofits: Northern Alaska Environmental Center (NAEC) and the Alaska Conservation Foundation.

Brown is originally from�Bay City, Michigan. She enjoys gardening, art and music, and aerial silks. She also enjoys spending time with her husband keeps busy wrangling her teenager and toddler while�running their family-run food truck, Alaska Shave Ice.

Harmonie Peters

Strategy, Planning & Budget Office

Harmonie Peters has joined the Strategy, Planning and Budget office as a budget analyst. She will assist in all aspects of budget development for the UA’s operating and capital budget requests. Part of her role is to analyze information for accuracy and completeness and compile information used in department publications/reports.

In May 2012, Peters started working with the Division of Design and Construction at UAF as a Fiscal Intern and in January 2013, became their Fiscal Technician. She enjoyed working with DDC’s staff for almost 5 years before making the transition up to Statewide.

Peters earned a bachelors of business administration with a focus in finance and a minor in Accounting as well as a Masters of Business Administration with a focus in capital markets from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Peters was born in Middlebury, VT and moved to Alaska two years later. She has lived in Fairbanks for almost 23 years.

She's been married to husband Roger for a little over three years. They have three dogs that keep them busy and in their spare time they enjoy spending time with friends and family.
