Prior to UAA, Evan served as Director of Governmental and External Affairs at the Florida Department of Education, overseeing government relations and external affairs for the Division of Career, Technical, and Adult Education. In this role, he was the principal legislative and policy advisor for a portfolio exceeding $750 million in state and federal appropriations, coordinating priorities with 83 school districts, 28 Florida College System institutions, 25+ state agencies, and numerous industry partners. He led strategic communications and workforce policy initiatives for emerging and high-impact industries, as well as employment-focused policies.

Earlier in his career, Evan served as Legislative Liaison and Policy Coordinator at the Department of Education, overseeing legislative research, policy communications and regulatory implementation for workforce and education initiatives. He also worked as a Government Affairs Consultant and Registered Lobbyist with Pittman Law Group, advocating for clients across federal, state and local governments on infrastructure, transportation, aerospace, higher education and energy issues, directly securing more than $46 million in appropriations over two fiscal years. Evan’s experience also includes service as a Legislative Aide at Greenberg Traurig, support for international trade initiatives at the Broward County Commission, and work on the U.S. Colombia Action Plan at the U.S. Department of Defense, Southern Command.

Evan earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences from Florida State University (FSU), with certificates in Emergency Management & Homeland Security and U.S. Intelligence Studies. At FSU, he served as Student Body President and as a University Trustee. 

Originally from Parkland, Florida, Evan brings a strategic, mission-driven perspective and deep expertise in government affairs, stakeholder engagement, and higher education policy to advancing institutional priorities at UAA.
