National Compliance Week at UA celebrated with new resources and leadership engagement
November 7, 2025
The University of Alaska system celebrated National Compliance Week with a range of activities and resources aimed at promoting ethical decision-making and making compliance more approachable across campuses.
Highlights from the Week
New Resource: Implementing Effective Compliance Programs guide
A major feature of this year’s celebration was the release of the Implementing Effective Compliance Programs guide. This best-practice resource is an optional tool designed to help employees
better understand and apply the elements of a strong compliance program. It’s not
mandated, but offered to support departments in aligning with best practices and improving
internal processes.
C L E A R ethical decision-making framework
UA introduced the CLEAR Framework to help employees pause, reflect, and make thoughtful
choices when facing uncertainty. This tool encourages ethical awareness in everyday
work and is available on the UA Institutional Compliance Program site as an infographic download.
Leader engagement: Ethics moments
On Wednesday, supervisors received a message encouraging them to incorporate short
“ethics moments” into regular staff meetings. These brief discussions—based on practical questions
or scenarios—are meant to spark reflection and reinforce UA’s values.
Third-party compliance risk training
UA employees were invited this week to a virtual training on third-party compliance
risk with 44 registered. The session covered key risks and responsibilities in working
with vendors, contractors, and service providers. Whether coordinating services, approving
purchases, or engaging external partners, attendees gained practical insights into
how these relationships connect to their roles and UA’s commitment to ethical, compliant
practices. Click here for the Third Party Compliance Risk Training presentation slides.
Scavenger hunt participation
More than 80 participants joined the system-wide compliance scavenger hunt, engaging with key concepts and
resources in a fun, interactive format.
UA’s National Compliance Week isn’t just an event—it’s a call to shared responsibility. Through practical tools and open conversation, UA is strengthening everyday awareness of compliance and ethical decision-making, making both more visible, supported, and valued.
If you missed any of the resources or want to revisit what was shared, you can explore the full suite of materials on the UA Institutional Compliance Program page.
Let’s keep the momentum going—one ethics moment at a time.
