An update on the University of Alaska Anchorage chancellor search and candidate attribute priorities

March 2, 2021

The UAA chancellor search committee has been making steady progress toward finding the next UAA chancellor and has posted updated information on the search website: UAA Chancellor Search. The updates include the position profile, candidate attributes, and an anticipated timeline. Many of you offered feedback on attributes the next chancellor should possess, and we thank you for taking the time to provide your thoughts.

The committee recognizes that the timeline for this expedited search may change as the search progresses. Due to the necessary coordination among numerous stakeholder groups and the candidates themselves, revisions to the dates may occur. Regardless of those changes, President Pitney remains committed to a late spring selection of the next UAA Chancellor.

The newly posted prospectus provides nominators and potential candidates with information about UAA, its campuses and communities, the role of the chancellor, and the desired qualifications and characteristics of a successful candidate. To learn more, view the position profile here.

President Pitney plans to invite the final candidates to listening sessions with the faculty, staff, and students in April to ensure ample opportunity for broad input.

As the search progresses, updates will be posted on the chancellor search website. Please continue to check there for the latest information.
