UA president and UAF chancellor search updates

March 20, 2026

UA President

The University of Alaska (UA) presidential search is in full swing. The search committee has begun its review of candidate applications and is carefully evaluating a strong and diverse pool of applicants.

As the process moves forward, the committee will begin conducting initial interviews via Zoom in early April. These interviews are an important step in identifying candidates who best align with the UA’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.

Next steps will include bringing the candidates to the campus, meeting with the search committee, constituent groups, and the Board of Regents with a goal of identifying UA’s next president in early to mid-May.

We appreciate the continued interest and engagement from the university community throughout this process. Additional updates will be shared as the search progresses.

UAF Chancellor

The search for the new UAF chancellor is also underway and on schedule. The search committee will begin an initial review of applicant materials on March 19 and will move into the semifinalist evaluation phase. During this stage, the committee will conduct Zoom interviews, currently scheduled for mid-April. Following semifinalist interviews, the committee will propose finalists to advance to the last phase of the search.
