Izzy Martinez named Executive Assistant to the UA President

Izzy Martinez has been appointed Executive Assistant to the University of Alaska President, effective November 3, 2025.

Martinez brings more than two decades of experience in supporting higher education administration, having served the University of Alaska for 24 years. She previously worked with the Vice Chancellor for Rural, Community, and Native Education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she was instrumental in supporting Indigenous and rural communities across the state.

She began her career with the university in 2001 in Public Affairs and transitioned to UAF’s rural, community, and Native education in 2013. Her leadership and coordination have been central to many cultural and community-focused efforts, including the Festival of Native Arts. In her new role, Martinez supports the UA President and executive leadership team, bringing her deep institutional knowledge and commitment to inclusive excellence to the statewide office.
