UAF Chancellor search update

The UAF Chancellor Search Committee has an update to share on the committee’s recent progress.

The committee was formally seated earlier this month and held its first meeting on Sept. 18. President Pitney opened with welcoming remarks, followed by introductions led by Co-Chairs Leah Berman and Jason Gootee. During the meeting, members reviewed their responsibilities and engaged in a productive discussion to clarify expectations, align on the overall search process, and review the timeline set forth.

Search Timeline:

  • Week of Sept. 1, 2025: Recruitment launch (complete)
  • Oct. 20, 2025: Committee begins rolling review to identify semi-finalists
  • November 2025: Virtual interviews with semi-finalists
  • December 2025: Finalists recommended to President Pitney
  • January 2026: Finalists visit campus for in-person meetings
  • March 2026: Chancellor announcement

The committee will meet weekly through December 2025, following a timeline designed to ensure high-quality candidates are presented to the UAF community and UA leadership by January 2026. This work is being actively supported by UA HR’s Talent Acquisition team in partnership with UAF administrative staff.
