UA Student Regent awarded prestigious Truman Scholarship

Congratulations to Albiona Selimi, our UA Student Regent on becoming a Truman Scholar. The Truman Scholarship is the premier graduate scholarship for aspiring public service leaders in the United States. 60 exceptional college students from 54 U.S. colleges and universities have been selected as 2024 Truman Scholars.

Albiona is a first-generation college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science with minors in women’s studies and justice. She is member of the UAA University Honors College and the Student Regent on the UA Board of Regents through 2025.

Truman Scholars demonstrate outstanding leadership potential, a commitment to a career in government or the nonprofit sector, and academic excellence. Each Truman Scholar receives funding for graduate studies, leadership training, career counseling, and special internship and fellowship opportunities within the federal government.
