Unique UA benefit for employees with children and future education aspirations

Alaska 529 would like to remind UA employees that NOW is a great time to start, review, or increase your education savings contributions for a loved one.

UA employees with college-aged children, and/or with a desire to attain their own degree, are able to supplement the UA Employee Tuition Waiver with money saved in a tax-advantaged Alaska 529 account. UA employees have the added ease of making contributions directly from a paycheck through payroll deduction or direct deposit. To participate:

  1. Open an Alaska 529 account, and
  2. Complete and return the payroll deduction form, or
  3. Complete and return the direct deposit form, or call 1-800-478-0003 to receive a unique routing and account number and add Alaska 529 as one of your direct deposit options.

Alaska 529 is offered by the Education Trust of Alaska. It was established by the University of Alaska in 2001 with a goal of helping residents prepare for education expenses. This month marks the trust’s 20th year of providing low cost, high quality investment options for participants. The trust holds over $10 billion in assets for 300,000 beneficiaries in Alaska and across the United States.
