UAA Assistant Vice Chancellor for Alumni RelationsBio - Rachel Morse is originally from Louisville, Kentucky, but has lived in Alaska since 1999. She has spent the past decade working with rural communities on projects that include environmental stewardship, housing, early childhood education and other social services. Rachel served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Zimbabwe. She has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a master’s degree in forestry and natural resources management from Purdue University.

Mathew Carrick was born in Crestview, FL, but considers Alaska his adoptive home. He studies Economics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with minors in Mathematics and Political Science, and hopes to serve the students of the University of Alaska to the best of his ability.

Dr. Cècile Lardon is particularly excited about meeting students from all walks of life and from different cultural backgrounds in her classes and working with them on research projects. She is originally from Germany, but has lived in the U.S. since 1985. After almost 15 years in Chicago, she was ready for a new adventure. She came to join the faculty at UAF in the fall of 1999. She received her Ph.D. in community, organizational, and social psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1999.

Tara Smith began teaching for UAA in the Community Education Program in 1997. She joined the College Preparatory & Developmental Studies department in 2001, where she is a tenured Professor of ESL. She holds a B.A. in French Language and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from Portland State University and a Master of Adult Education, Program & Curriculum Planning emphasis, from UAA.

Faye Gallant was born and raised on the coast of Maine. She received her B.A. in Geography from UAF in 2006, and her Master of Public Administration from UAS in 2013. She lives in a cabin in the woods with her husband and two dogs, and loves to hike, travel, and play outside.

Monique Musick was born and raised in Ester, Alaska. After attending ICS and later Lathrop High School, she received a bachelor’s of art in journalism from UAF. She currently works for UA Public Affairs doing what she enjoys most: photography, communications and graphic design. She became involved with governance in 2009 shortly after coming to UA Statewide and has enjoyed being an active member of System Governance ever since. She values the opportunity afforded through shared governance to support co-workers, participate in policy review, advise on changes in the university and to advocate on behalf of staff throughout the system. She recently purchased her old family home in Ester and enjoys gardening, photography, motor sports, outdoor activities, prospecting, music and time with friends.
