Top 100

Scores for the 2020 rankings were based on four categories: Engagement, Services and Technology, Faculty Credentials and Training, and Expert Opinion.

UAF also earned spots on three lists for graduate-level online programs.

All included, U.S. News & World Report ranked UAF on the following lists for 2020:

  • Best Online Bachelor’s Programs
  • Best Online MBA Programs
  • Best Online Criminal Justice/Criminology Programs (Graduate)
  • Best Online Education Programs (Graduate)

“UAF understands the unique educational needs of students in rural Alaska, in the military, in the workforce, and so on,” said Owen Guthrie, UAF eCampus director. “We are evolving every day to create more opportunities for online students and are in good company on this list of the top 100.”

UAF has the largest selection of online degrees and is the longest-running distance education program in the state of Alaska.

UAF has also recently earned national recognition from Quality Matters, a nonprofit organization recognized as a leader in quality assurance for online education. In July 2019, UAF became the first (and is still the only) university in the nation to earn Exemplary Program status from Quality Matters for its online special education and teaching program. UAF has also earned Quality Matters certifications for online learner success, learner support, teaching support and program design.
