2019 Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities

April 19, 2019   Campuses across the UA system join the national movement of recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, or SAAM. Each year campus and community partners use activities throughout the month of April to spread the word about domestic violence and sexual assault, how to stop it and where to get help. Activities are aimed at furthering the end of violence against women and men in Alaska, raising public awareness and engaging agents of social change to end domestic and sexual violence.

One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. Almost 75 percent of Alaskans have experienced or know someone who has experienced domestic violence or sexual assault (as reported by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence). It's on all of us to create the change we want to see in our communities and provide spaces that are free of violence.
