Remembering Carolyn Floyd

Jan. 21, 2022

It is with great sadness that we recognize the passing of Carolyn Floyd.

Carolyn played an instrumental role in launching the Kodiak Community College and served as the college's director from 1969-1987.

During her time leading the college, she helped it grow from just a few small classes at Kodiak High Schoool to a comprehensive community college on its own 57-acre campus.

In recognition of her dedication, the college library is named after Carolyn.

Carolyn also served as the mayor of the City of Kodiak for more than 18 years.

We offer our deepest condolences to the Floyd family in this time of loss and remember in invaluable advancements Carolyn provided to the University of Alaska.
