UA Disability Services “All Access” training session videos available

January 23, 2026

UA Disability Services will return with new “All Access, All the Time” staff and faculty support series programming in fall 2026. In the meantime, several popular training session recordings are now available for faculty and staff.

For several years, Disability Services offices across the University of Alaska system have presented free virtual training sessions as part of the UA Disability Services “All Access, All the Time” staff and faculty support series. While additional training was planned for the current academic year, the timing coincided with the first systemwide implementation of a single accommodations platform across all main and community campuses.

Previously, students enrolled in courses at multiple campuses were required to work with different staff members to obtain faculty notification letters for each class. While Disability Services offices worked to reduce the burden, the process could be cumbersome from a student perspective. As of fall 2025, students can now use a single system to manage accommodations across all UA locations.

During this transition, the UA Disability Services “All Access, All the Time” series was placed on hold. New programming is planned to resume in fall 2026. In the meantime, faculty and staff are encouraged to view recordings of several frequently requested sessions:

UA Disability Services 101” with Directors Anne Lazenby (UAA DSS) and Amber Cagwin (UAF DS) that occurred on September 16, 2024.

The highly requested “Creating Solutions:  How to Handle Complex Accommodation Needs and Conversations” featuring eight different scenarios discussed by various Directors and Assistant Directors, occurred on January 27, 2025.

And our most recent addition, “Helper Bird All-in-One Accessibility Tool Tutorial” was presented on March 24, 2025, by developer Robert James Gabriel.

Interested in exploring other sessions? Feel free to browse a variety of additional DS training videos on our YouTube channel and remember to check back for updates from time to time. For example, our 'How to Stay Out of Hot Water' training session will be uploaded next week!

As always, feel free to reach out to DS if you have questions about a student in your course or department, or if you need additional information regarding academic accommodations.
