Travel agency transition update – booking pause for travel after October 31
July 10, 2026
Following our initial communication regarding the University’s transition from Corporate Travel Management (CTM) to Travel Solutions International (TSI), we are pleased to provide an update on the project’s progress. The transition is scheduled for October 2026 and will strengthen the Travel Program through better tools, improved traveler support, and updated technology for end users.
Here are the key points to be aware of:
- The State has selected TSI as the new Travel Management Company following a competitive procurement process. This transition is intended to modernize travel, improve traveler support, and enhance system integration.
- Departments should pause booking any travel occurring after October 31 until TSI opens for bookings in mid‑October.
- If there is a business need to ticket travel occurring after October 31 sooner, work with your campus travel office to determine the best method to do so.
- Bookings serviced by CTM after November 8th will be subject to a $50 booking fee for each transaction (airfare changes or cancellations, hotel/car reservations, changes or cancellations).
- Unused ticket credits currently held with CTM cannot be transferred to TSI. Departments will need to actively manage and use these credits before the transition to avoid loss.
- Review the unused ticket credit report (UAA, UAS, SO, UAF)
- Avoid booking travel that is likely or has the potential to be cancelled to avoid increasing the number of credits that need to be used before the transition.
- Process expense credits where the policy does not allow transfers and it’s known the original traveler will not use them (separated employees, volunteers or guests). If you are unsure, please contact your campus travel office for guidance.
- The State of Alaska will begin a pilot phase mid‑ to late Summer 2026, followed by statewide training in early fall. All units will begin booking through TSI in October.
- Additional guidance, training schedules, and transition instructions will be shared as they become available.
