Alertus outage April 28

The University of Alaska uses Alertus beacons and desktop notifications to supplement emergency notification systems. This includes desktop pop-up alerts, wall beacons and loudspeaker announcements that can be activated during emergencies or as part of training and drills.

On April 28, 11 a.m to 12 p.m, UA will work with Alertus technical support to upgrade our primary Alertus server. The upgrade will not affect other notifications systems such as email, text or phone notifications. During the upgrade, the Alertus desktop alert icon on desktop computers will change, as communication with the server will be down. In addition wall mounted beacons will display a server “offline” message during the outage.

The upgrade will improve the functionality of our emergency notification systems, reduce errors, and allow additional customization of the system.
