Dylan Baffrey (UAF ‘18) is one of the proud alumna of the University of Alaska Fairbanks
civil engineering program and is now employed by the multinational engineering firm
Tetra Tech as a civil engineer. Dylan is also a member of the Society of Women Engineers
and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Born and raised in Anchorage, Dylan says she chose UAF because of its affordability
and because it allowed her to stay in Alaska while still receiving an exemplary education.
Dylan also knew the value Alaska engineering firms place on homegrown engineers.
Looking back on her time at UAF, Dylan recalls the bond among women engineering students
and says she will carry the lessons learned from those women through her career and
she will continue to mentor younger women entering the field of engineering. She says
female camaraderie is vital in a field primarily dominated by men. The community and
support she experienced during her time at UAF helped her, and her classmates, succeed
in the program.
