Training Opportunities

The Statewide Office of Human Resources is sponsoring a variety of classes in February and March for University employees. The calendar is posted at www.alaska.edu/hrtraining and identifies the events in date order. Information below describes the upcoming ComPsych Webinars available to all University employees, training sessions for University supervisory and management personnel and E-learning demonstrations of SkillSoft resources.

ComPsych Webinars
are generally 45 minutes in length and are open to University employees system-wide. The upcoming webinars include:
February 3rd @ 11:00am - How to Receive Criticism and Make it Work for You
March 3rd @ 11:00am - Sailing On: A Guide for Transitioning Into Retirement
March 17th @ 11:00am - Emergency Preparedness for Home and Family

Employees may join these webinars from their desk.  There is no charge to attend a ComPsych webinar, although supervisory approval is needed if the webinar takes place during the employee’s work hours. All three webinars may be viewed in Fairbanks, Butro 204. Employees interested in receiving the handouts should register in advance. To avoid unnecessary copies, attendees are encouraged to print their own handouts prior to arriving.

Supervisory Training:  The following three (3) classes for University supervisors and managers will be offered in Butrovich 204.  When possible, they will also be offered as a video-conference in Anchorage, Bragaw Office Building 205. Class details are available on the training calendar.

"Safety Training" - Monday, February 8, 2010
“Effective Interviewing and Selection”  - Monday, February 22, 2010
“Performance Evaluation” - Monday, March 1, 2010

E-learning Demonstrations:  Demonstrations of the University’s employee e-learning resources will be offered on February 12 and March 19 at 10:00 am.  The demos are approximately one hour and individuals may join the demo from a computer and a toll-free call in number.  Employees who register will receive a reminder email 24-48 hours prior to the event.  If a room is reserved for a group setting, that information will be updated on the event registration page.

A SkillSoft e-learning demonstration specifically scheduled for University supervisors is scheduled to take place on April 16, 2010.  However, University supervisors may attend the earlier scheduled demonstrations for all employees, if preferred.
