Hamilton names Rogers to permanent post

University of Alaska President Mark Hamilton announced May 26, 2009 that Brian Rogers will serve as permanent chancellor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. "Brian is the right person for this position," Hamilton said. "And this is the right time to appoint him." MORE

2009 Staff Campaign

The 2009 Statewide Staff campaign continues until June 9. This year the goal is for 67 percent staff participation. Wrap-up events in Anchorage and Fairbanks will be held at 11 a.m. featuring door prize drawings with a grand prize of Alaska Airlines tickets.�� MORE...

SAA sponsored Statewide Service awards honors all employees in service for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years. All employes are invited to a award ceremony in their honor on June 1, 2009.� MORE...

Heart Walk

The 2009 Fairbanks Heart Walk was a success, raising a total of $239,245 for the American Heart Association, exceeding the goal of $215,000.� The UAF and Statewide�Company also exceeded its goal by raising $39,933.81.�Thank you to everyone who joined and supported the SW Heart Walk team.�We recruited eight�teammates and raised $1,090 for the American Heart Association. Special thanks to Kim Eames and Bess Rounds who helped Paloma Harbour�to sell all of the raffle tickets we had available. Here's hoping a Statewide�employee was the lucky winner.

Eagle Food and Supply Drive

Once again Statewide staff showed their generosity and compassion, by giving significantly to those in need. The Eagle Food and Supply drive was a very quick impromptu action in response to the flooding that has wreaked�havoc in Eagle and other communities along the Yukon River. Thanks to your generous donations, we collected a significant amount of clothing, food and water, and toiletry items that will aid these communities as they try to rebuild. The work is merely beginning for those communities and there are other communities along still facing the possibility of flooding.��

UAA receives $7 million donation

The April portrait session offer was well attended and turned out some great photos. For anyone who missed the portrait sessions, or recently realized they need one, a make-up date has been set for this Friday, May 29, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in room 208E. Please stop by and have your picture taken free of hassle or charge!

SAA elects new members

Elected members for 2009-2011 are Kim Eames, Mike Earnest, Paloma Harbour, Monique Musick and Dana Platta for Fairbanks and Ron Swartz for Anchorage. Alternates for 2009-2010 are Lisa Sporleder and Alicia Wyse. Continuing members for 2008-2010 are Tami Choquette for Anchorage and Betty Dupee, James Milburn, Rita Murphy and Bess Rounds for Fairbanks.

Regents to meet

The University of Alaska Board of Regents will meet June 4-5, 2009,�in Room 109 of the Butrovich Building�on the UAF campus.�Key agenda items�include the FY10 operating and capital budget distribution plan,�consideration of�numerous academic programs and more.
