An account of the service of Gavriil Ivanovich Davydov's in the Russian-American Company from 1802 until 1804. Includes the details of his journey from St. Petersburg to Kodiak Island via Iakutsk, Okhotsk, and the Kuriles, as well as his meeting with Baranov and a description of the situation of the Russian colony in North America.
Part II describes Kodiak Island, Alaska and the Koniag people, including their clothing and material culture, architecture, rituals, subsistence, watercraft, and warfare.
