Excerpt

"That's how those caches in the Minto Flats got built. It was a place everybody gathered in the spring to catch fish. They'd put a weir across the creek and the whole village would come there. They'd catch fish in a cooperative effort and put them away. If you'll look at any village in the country you'll find that they stopped where they can get fish. Other game would be scarce a lot of times but they knew they could get a fish."
