The University of Alaska is committed to working closely with all federal and state agencies and private enterprise to further develop collaboration and new exposures for future growth in all areas of science and technology.

Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research, Dr. Daniel M. White, directs a division of services including Academic Affairs and Research, Corporate Programs, Student Services, Health Programs, and Distance Education. The Vice President works with the UA campuses on academic and research initiatives and collaborations to promote research in Alaska.

University of Alaska Single Accreditation Assessment Plan

Accreditation Review: In response to a wide variety of questions about what the University can and cannot do organizationally under our current institutional accreditation — in which each university campus is separately accredited — President Johnsen has commissioned a review of the accreditations by Dr. Dana Thomas, former University of Alaska Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research. Dr. Thomas is working closely with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities to complete the review by mid/late July. Click to review his assessment plan.

University of Alaska Single Accreditation Consideration Request

In response to interest from our Board of Regents and State Legislators and in consideration of Strategic Pathways, the University has formally requested consultation with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) regarding a single university accreditation model. The University has not taken the requisite steps to make such a change, but has initiated a dialogue on the matter. Click HERE to read the letter sent to NWCCU President Dr. Sandra E. Elman.

Recommended Options for the University of Alaska Fairbanks Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center

University of Alaska (UA) President James Johnsen put a plan into action regarding possible future options for the Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center (KSMSC) in November 2015. Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research Daniel M. White was tasked with chairing a task force to make recommendations to the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) and University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Chancellors by March 1, 2016.
