Educational Attainment Incentive Program (EAIP)
- Provides salary increase when an employee completes
- a certificate program, or
- earns a qualified degree from an accredited University
EAIP Policies
The EAIP rewards employees who enhance their professional skills increasing the value they bring to their position, department, and university.

EAIP cannot be awarded retroactively.

EAIP Eligibility
Eligible Employees
Benefit-eligible employees who have completed their probationary period.
Ineligible Employees
- Student and Temporary Employees
- Non-represented Academic Employees
- Represented Employees
- Executives or Senior Administrators
Successful completion of the following will be recognized accordingly.
- 1-year certificate* | 1% increase (1-step)
- Associates Degree | 2% increase (2-step)
- Bachelors Degree | 4% increase (4-step)
- Graduate Degree | 5% increase (5-step)
EAIP Application and Approval
Work with Supervisor
Work directly with your supervisor on your professional development goals and intentions
within the EAIP.
3-month Deadline
Make sure your certificate or degree has been submitted within three months of the
date the degree or certificate is completed.
Submit NextGen Form
Complete the required fields in the NextGen Form.
Provide Transcriptions
Attach a copy of your transcripts to your NextGen form for the certificate or degree
you have successfully completed.
Watch for notification that the Nextgen Form has been completed to make sure your EAIP has been processed. Allow adequate time for processing, especially during peak times of the year.
Effective Date
The effective date for the new rate of pay will be the first available payroll run after submission. No pay increases will be retroactive.
An EAIP may only be approved if all of the following criteria are met:
Official Transcript
The employee must presents an official transcript from an accredited college or university
indicating the certificate or degree completed. An unofficial transcript for a certificate
or degree awarded by the University of Alaska (UAA, UAF, UAS) is acceptable.
Performance Evaluation Required
The employee must receive an overall score of “satisfactory”, "meets expectations"
or “fully proficient” on their most recent performance evaluation and currently is
not subject to formal disciplinary action.
Mandatory Training
The employee must have completed all mandatory HR Compliance related training (i.e.
Title IX Training).

Yes, but only from the University of Alaska system (UAA, UAF, UAS). For other institutions, only an official transcript will fulfill the requirements.
If the performance review was done through myUA, the employee can print it out. If the performance review was done in some other way, please contact your supervisor or HR Coordinator to get a copy.
How to print a copy of your performance review in MyUA:
- Login to MyUA, and go to your Employee Services Dashboard
- Select the “About Me” drop down on the top left of the page and select “Performance Reviews”
- Click the “I want to…” drop down on the right side of the performance review you would like to print and select “View the report”
- Select the printer icon in the upper right corner to print
If you have not received a performance evaluation within the current or past fiscal year, please contact your supervisor to initiate a review.
