Message to Donors from President Susan Foley

Dear Donor,

As an investor in the University of Alaska, you deserve timely information about the impacts of reduced state revenue to your university. There are many unknowns ahead, but one thing I can promise you is that the top priority of the UA Foundation is stewarding gifts entrusted to us and honoring donor intent.

The UA Foundation was created 45 years ago to seek, secure and steward philanthropic support to build excellence at the University of Alaska. We manage over 1,700 separate funds from tens of thousands of donors in support of UA students and programs across the state. Every gift is safeguarded for use only as directed by the donor. We advocate on behalf of the thousands of donors, like you, who invest in the future of Alaska through the university.

With possible changes on the horizon for UA, there may be gifted funds that become impossible or impracticable to use as originally intended by our donors unless some restrictions or preferences are adapted. In every circumstance, we first endeavor to communicate with you, the affected donors, to ensure that your gifts can still benefit the students and programs you chose to support.

This FAQ will be updated as we have more information. We may not have all of the answers, but we will work to provide you as much information as possible.
