Term 2019-2021

Cachet Garrett was appointed by Governor Dunleavy in May 2019, after completing her first year of graduate school at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, studying professional communication.

Regent Garrett is from Palmer, Alaska, where she lived until moving to Juneau to pursue a baccalaureate degree in human communication. She is pleased to serve as a regent of her university because she cares deeply about people, learning, and self-mastery, and feels that this is an exciting part of her purpose to serve and to advocate for others. An avid, enthusiastic, life-long volunteer and public servant, Regent Garrett looks forward to many years of leadership and service in Alaska.

Her professional employment has focused on health and wellness and community advocacy, including tenure at Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, as a health educator, and at United Way of Southeast Alaska, as campaign director. Additionally, she is a licensed massage therapist and has a talent for deeply touching people’s lives.

Regent Garrett is a natural leader and teacher and is an inspiration to those who learn from her and receive her mentorship. Her leadership and extracurricular involvement include serving several semesters as a senator and one year as student body president in the student senate, and one year as president of the Student Alumni Association. She also participated in the Model United Nations, Ultimate (frisbee) Club and the International Club.

Her favorite activities include travel (she has visited more than 20 countries), hiking, camping, yoga, finding hot springs, and sharing time with her wide network of friends. She enjoys gathering people in the spirit of celebration and values enthusiasm and participation. She has three lovely animals; a dog, Kai’aka (rescued from a beach in Moloka’i) and two cats, littermates, Bijou and Lumière (rescued from the streets in Georgia).
