FAQ

Q-Who will be leading these trips?
A-The trips leaders are current students who know the ins and outs of Alaska ’s wilderness areas, but also know where you are coming from as you transition into college life. These students are qualified and experienced backcountry guides, with high level medical training certifications. Canoe and climbing instructors also have certifications in their field.

Q-How do I sign up?
A-Fill out this application form. Once you have filled it out completely, you can choose to e-mail it Outdoor Adventures at fywild@uaf.edu and we will contact you for a deposit over the phone. Or you can mail it the old fashioned way with a check deposit. The address is below.

Q- What do I need to bring on the trip?
A- All the gear you need for the trip is included on the attached gear list. We provide tents, cooking gear, food on the trip, and some personal gear you may not have.

Q- Will I be able to get to Outdoor Adventures from my dorm?
A- Yes, UAF is easy to navigate and Outdoor Adventures is five minutes from any of the dorms on campus.

Q- Where am I going to stay when I get there?
A- If you are living in the dorms in the Fall you will be able to move into your dorm room right away. If you are living off campus, you can stay off campus or we can arrange something for you. Please contact us if we need to arrange something special for you.

Q- Which meals are provided?
A- Every meal will be provided starting Tuesday at lunch through Saturday’s dinner.

Q-Where will I be able to store my luggage while on the trip?
A- Outdoor Adventures will provide you with a secure place to store your luggage and other stuff when you get into town.

Q-If I only paid the deposit, when do I pay may balance?
A – As soon as possible or as soon as you can. You can call or e-mail us with credit card information or you can send us a check along with the medical and release forms. If you cannot pay the balance until Tuesday, August 28th, please contact us.

Q-Where do I park?
A-Visitor parking is available across from the Student Rec. Center (SRC) or in the Taku lot. Please see the enclosed campus map. You’ll need to buy a visitor’s parking pass at the kiosk in these lots until you get a student parking pass.
