Volunteer Opportunities

The UAF Volunteer Program Office promotes community service learning in all aspects of university life. Working closely with the United Way of the Tanana Valley , our program serves as clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities for students, faculty and staff of the University of Alaska Fairbanks . We will help you match your interests with community needs.

Volunteering is a great way to share your skills and develop new ones. Be a positive role model for a child. Tutor a person learning English as a second language. Play cards and visit with a Senior. Pull out that hammer, put on your work gloves and help build a home. Jump in. Get involved. Give a helping hand.

Leading as a volunteer is one of the best ways to develop your leadership potential while also helping those in the community.  Sometimes as a busy college student it can be hard to get off campus and volunteer, which is why we offer monthly Saturdays of Service (SOS's) where we organize a great community service project and provide the transportation to get there.  We also facilitate annual Alternative Spring Break trips to places like California and New Orleans for those who want a more intense volunteer experience.

No matter what your interest are there is guaranteed to be a program in the Fairbanks community that you can volunteer with. We can help you find that program.

Please join us for one of our numerous opportunities to get out there and make a difference. We have monthly Saturday of Service opportunities, Alternative Spring Break and SpringFest Service. Take a look around our website and call/email us if you have any questions or would like to sign up for an event.
