Join General Counsel in Congratulating Ardith Lynch on Retirement!

Last day - May 6, 2016

Ardith Lynch joined the General Counsel's office in 2002, following 10 years of service as the Borough Attorney for the Fairbanks North Star Borough. In her nearly 14 years of service to the university system she has been the quintessential professional, providing practical legal advice on a broad range of topics. She has done so with unfailing grace, as well as uncommon judgment and wisdom. Even as she was planning her departure to join lawyer-husband Jim Cannon in retirement, she agreed to assume the role of interim CHRO, which she has filled since November. No surprise that she took on the challenges facing that office with the same determination, skill and professionalism that have been the hallmarks of her professional career. We wish her well in her new adventures.

– Mike Hostina, UA general counsel

Staff are invited to a retirement celebration for Ardith Lynch on Friday, May 6 from 9-10 a.m. in Butrovich 204.

UA College Savings Plan Recognized as Family-Friendly Workplace

We would like to congratulate Jim Lynch and the UA College Savings Plan for receiving the Family Friendly Workplace award at the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce luncheon on April 19.  Mayor Kassel presented plaques to the winning businesses government agencies, and non-profit organizations.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough’s Early Childhood Development Commission (ECDC) received over 130 nominations for 70 employers for the Family Friendly Workplace Awards.  In the 14 years of the program, more than 325 different employers have been nominated, with funding for the program coming mainly from past nominees. The ECDC seeks to educate and advocate on issues relating to early childhood development and school readiness. Besides the Family Friendly Workplace Awards, ECDC projects include the launch of Imagination Library, Fairbanksfamilies.com, and the Fairbanks Families Health Fair, the area’s only health fair for children birth to eight years old.
