Board of Regents Meeting

Board of Regents to meet in Fairbanks June 2–3, 2011

The next Board of Regents meeting will be June 2–3, 2011 in Fairbanks in Butrovich 109. Public testimony will be heard at approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, and 9 a.m. on Friday June 3. Sign-up sheets will be available prior to the meeting. Governance groups will be reporting to the board on Thursday following public testimony. The agenda for the meeting can be accessed on the BOR website.

Key items on the agenda for the June meeting include acceptance of the FY12 operating and capital budget appropriations and of the distribution plans for those funds. The natural resources spending plan and student government budgets will also be considered for approval for FY12.� Bargaining unit agreements with the University of Alaska Federation of Teachers, and University of Alaska United Academics are also up for approval.

The academic and student affairs committee have a number of proposed courses to consider for approval including a graduate certificate in children’s mental health at UAA; a graduate certificate in career and technical education at UAA; revision of an associate of applied science in telecommunications, electronics and computer technology at UAA; and approval of reorganization of health programs at UAA.

The facilities and land management committee has a number of projects up for consideration including the Kenai Peninsula College Student Housing Complex; UAA Seawolf sports arena; Phase 3 of the renovation of the UAA science building; UAF Atkinson heat and power plant renewal; UAA Southeast Banfield Hall addition; UAF campus-wide student housing and dining facility addition; and schematic design approval for the UAF critical electric distribution renewal phase 1C.

In addition to committee and department reports, researchers from the host campus, UAF, will be presenting new research discoveries to the board.
