Mark Hamilton Announces Retirement Plans

University of Alaska President Mark Hamilton announced June 5 that he'll retire from his position leading the 16-campus system. A specific departure date isn't set yet, but Hamilton made his intentions known so the Board of Regents can begin the selection process for a new president. MORE...

SAA News

The Statewide Administration Assembly held its annual meeting on June 11. It was the first meeting and orientation for new members and the final meeting for outgoing members. The full-day agenda included department updates, a presentation by facilities and grounds, a review of the FY10/FY11 budget, the outlook for statewide in the coming year, committee updates and a discussion of Anchorage employee issues. Elections were held and the new officers for 2009-2010 are: Kim Eames, president; Dana Plata, vice president; Monique Musick, secretary. MORE....

2009 Staff Campaign

The 2009 Statewide Staff campaign exceed expectations. The goal for the year was sixty seven percent participation. The generous employees at Stateide went beyound that mark and recorded a seventy percent participation rate. Statewide employees in Anchorage had a record ninty percent participation in the annual giving campaign. These success were celebrated during a wrap-up event on June 9.  MORE...

Regents Dine on UAF Beef

SNRAS gave the UA Board of Regents something to chew on (literally) at a June 5 meeting in Fairbanks. The regents’ luncheon included Angus beef raised by the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, as well as two varieties of potatoes grown at the Matanuska Experiment Farm. MORE...

Staff Make Students Count

Statewide Student Services Manager Mike Earnest is one of four winners of the 2009 University of Alaska Staff Make Students Count Award. UA President Mark Hamilton presented the awards during the June Board of Regents meeting in Fairbanks. This year's award winners received a plaque, $1,000 and two airline vouchers. MORE....
