| The NLC is a program of the University of Alaska Fairbanks under the direction of the UAF Chancellor Steve Jones, who initiated the NLC and whose involvement provides credibility and legitimacy to the Center. Supervision for the Center is provided by Vice Chancellor of Student and Enrollment Services, Tim Barnett. University of Alaska President Mark Hamilton serves as the Leadership Scholar in residence, whose role is to provide leadership content to the various NLC programs, and to serve as the program champion, deal maker, door opener, and inspiration. Professor Susan Herman from the School of Management is the Director of the NLC. Sheri Layral is the program coordinator. The working arm of the NLC is the Leadership Task Force, composed of those individuals on campus who are involved in all the various leadership initiatives taking place at UAF. The Task Force is the working group that operationalizes current programs, develops new ones, and delivers the programs of the Center. We are in the process of identifying and recruiting an advisory board of community leaders whose guidance and support will benefit all NLC programs. Finally, the NLC is associated with the Hugh Shelton Leadership Institute at North Carolina State University. Because of the contractual relationship (and affinity) between the Hugh Shelton Leadership Institute and the Northern Leadership Center, the Hugh Shelton Leadership Institute is working closely with the NLC staff in the development of the UAF programs. |
