A life-long resident of Fairbanks, Lisa Klaich Indigo has taught
general music for grades K-6 for the Fairbanks School District since 1983.
Her work in elementary music education has utilized Orff Schuelwerk techniques,
a rhythmic and percussion based pedagogy for childhood music education. In
addition to her full-time teaching responsibilities, Ms. Indigo is an adjunct
instructor for the University of Alaska Music Department, where she teaches
beginning steel drums and directs the UAF Steel Drum Band. She also teaches
Interrelation of Art, Music and Drama for the Center for Distance Education
at UAF. For many years she has also taught percussion based coursed for the
Fairbanks Suzuki Institute. As an active member of the Fairbanks performing
arts community Ms. Indigo has performed with the Fairbanks Flutes, Fairbanks
Symphony Orchestra, Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre, Fairbanks Drama Association,
Dance Omnium and the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. Ms. Indigo is past president
of the Alaska Society for General Music, a member of the American Orff-Schulwerk
Association and Music Educator's National Conference. |
