Jane Aspnes has earned a B.M. from the University of Iowa and
a M.M. from the University of Wisconsin. She was principal horn with the National
Ballet Orchestra and the Portland Maine Symphony and has been a free lance
musician in both the Washington, D.C. and Boston areas. After moving to Alaska,
she has been adjunct professor of horn and brass ensemble studies at the University
of Alaska Fairbanks as well as executive director of the Fairbanks Symphony
Association. She is currently principal horn of the Fairbanks
Symphony and the Arctic Chamber Orchestra and was soloist with the Arctic
Chamber Orchestra on tours to Europe and China. In 1990, she was awarded the
Governor's Award for the Arts. Ms. Aspnes was recently an invited guest to
perform chamber music recitals in Iowa and Texas. She continues teaching horn
and conducting brass ensembles at the university, and has been active in commissioning
works for the faculty Borealis Brass Trio
as well as horn, violin, and piano trios. |
