Mission

Alaska's families, in all their diverse forms, are Alaska's future. The Extension Health, Home and Family Development program's primary "unit of care" is the family within its home environment. Extension HHFD program faculty help people improve their lives through an educational process that uses research based knowledge focused on issues and needs defined by the clientele.

This program provides education in the areas of food (safety, preservation, preparation, food product development), nutrition, housing and home environment, energy utilization, clothing, management of financial and other resources, child development, and human relationships. Extension Health, Home and Family Development programs promote positive change and growth for the family system within the community and the larger society.
