Background and Research Interests:
Dr. Samson Ning has been serving as an Adjunct Associate Professor at UAF since 1996. He is a staff reservoir engineer with BP explorations (Alaska). He also taught in the Petroleum Engineering department of Petroleum University, China for six years.
Dr. Ning is recently working on development drilling and enhanced oil recovery for the Schrader Bluff viscous oil reservoir. He played a key role in the development of a new EOR method - Viscosity Reduction Water-Alternating-Gas (VRWAG) injection to improve oil recovery from under-saturated and viscous oil reservoirs. For the past 20 years, he has worked and taught on a broad spectrum of petroleum engineering, including Reservoir management, Water flooding, Enhanced oil recovery, Production enhancement, Formation evaluation, and Directional drilling.
Dr. Ning has taught 10 undergraduate and graduate level courses for the Petroleum Engineering Department Anchorage extension. He has also taught numerous industry schools in the US, Canada, and China. He has published 13 technical papers and received numerous technical awards.
