SPE Award Winners 2009

It gives me great pleasure to announce that UAF petroleum engineering students Rusheet Shah (SPE student chapter treasurer) and Sathish Kulathu (SPE student chapter secretary) won the 1st and the 2nd place respectively in the MS division, and Daniel Clark won the 2nd place in the BS division at this years Society of Petroleum Engineers Western Regional Meeting student paper contest. They competed against students from University of Southern California and Stanford University.

Rusheet presented his work on application of nanotechnology for enhanced oil recovery (EOR), funded by the Office of Electronic Miniaturization (OEM); Sathish presented his research on application of low salinity cyclic waterfloods for EOR, which was funded by US Department of Energy (DOE), and Daniel's presentation was based on the senior design project on arctic well design sequence and failure prognosis.

I am really proud of our students' achievements and the recognition they bring to the PETE program, CEM and UAF.
