Heather Neal is the new RCR or Regional Collegiate Representative for the Northwest Star Region (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington). She will be representing 17 sections at the Regional and National levels of the Society of Women Engineers.
Region Collegiate Representative (RCR): a collegiate member serving on the Council of Representatives (COR), responsible for running region collegiate meetings at national and regional conferences, assisting the collegiate section hosting the Regional Conference, and communicating with the Region Governor about collegiate activities and issues within the region.
What Does a RCR Do?
- The RCR is a vital collegiate voice within the region and to national leaders in SWE.
- Serves on the Council of Representatives (COR) as the voting collegiate member for the region. The COR meets face-to-face at the National Conference and again via conference call in the spring. Among COR's responsibilities are changes to the National Bylaws (like increasing collegiate representation) and discussing society Mega Issues and other topics relative to the whole society.
- Serves on the Region Collegiate Team to ensure collegiate and section interest and concerns are discussed among the region leadership and plans are made to improve the region collegiate experience.
- Prepares the collegiate report to the governor three times a year from collegiate section reports. In regions with two RCRs, sections will be split between the two.
- Leads the collegiate portions of the region meeting at the national and regional conferences.
- Works with other RCRs and RCNEs on yearly goals to improve the collegiate experience in SWE.
- Attends Collegiate Leadership Forum (CLF) in the summer to receive leadership and SWE training.
